HENNA - WONDER WOMEN - The WAU Project
"It feels unbelievable to be a part of this project dedicated to womanhood. I decided to trust my intuition and volunteered when I saw on this Facebook-group that Riina was looking for a pregnant model to be painted. This pregnancy has been shawdowed by a constant worry and fear of losing my baby as my previous pregnancy ended in a full-term stillbirth. I've found it difficult to enjoy this pregnancy. Not trusting my body and constantly observing it has been both mentally and physically exhausting.
Wonder Women -project gave me a unique chance to have a beautiful memory of this pregnancy, an opportunity to enjoy it and at the same time take part in doing something good for all women. I am really touched that Riina chose me and I am grateful for having experienced something as amazing as being painted by her. The painting session was physically hard but the actual process felt natural and it was such a unique experience to follow her work close-up. Now I am excited to see what the final piece will look like!
The name of the piece, 'Gift' means two things to me - every child is a gift, but motherhood is a gift too, given to me by my body. "
